  Twice in her last three tournaments, teen phenom Michelle Wie has walked off the course in mid-round because of a nagging wrist injury.

  Here's hoping she doesn't step between the ropes at another LPGA Tour event until the Ricoh Women's British Open, Aug. 2-5 in St. Andrews, Scotland. Or even next season, if her wrist and psyche are not in better shape than they were during 27 dismal holes at last week's U.S. Women's Open.

  I do not say that because I am anti-Wie. I don't question the severity of her injury or the validity of her withdrawals, as LPGA peers have done. Quite the contrary.

 I view Wie, 17, as a player with limitless talent and an engaging personality who can help carry the banner for women's professional golf for decades to come. But none of that came through ...
