I’ve done everything a good “life style changer” should do:
1. Choose a sensible eating plan (Related) CHECK
2. Only eat while sitting (Related) CHECK
3. Give myself credit for my accomplishments (Related) CHECK
4. Prepare environment for healthy living (Related) CHECK
5. Eat slowly (Related) CHECK
6. Recruit a Diet Coach (Related) CHECK
7. Set realistic goals (Related) CHECK
8. Create Time and Energy (Related) CHECK
9. Select an Exercise Plan CHE……UMM…UH-OH!!!!!
I have been looking forward to and at the same time dreading this post. I actually chose an exercise plan a couple of weeks ago, but I haven’t been sticking to it like I should. I know when I blog about it, in my mind it means that it is set in stone. All of my loyal readers will be expecting me to ACTUALLY EXERCISE!
I am fortunate enough to live in a city with a top notch community recreation center. It is better and nicer than any gym I’ve ever joined and way cheaper. I pay $33.00 a month for a Family Membership and I used to pay $40.00 a month for just me to go to a regular gym. The Rec Center has a pool, indoor walking track, lots and lots of cardio equipment, weights and classes. Like many magazines, books and people will tell you, it is good idea to have a “workout buddy.”
My Buddy, Enniferjay** and I actually have been going to the gym together since before Christmas. I wish I could say we have gone everyday, but that is not the case. We have gone a lot more and for a longer period of time than I would have by myself. Together we decided to take advantage of some of the classes that are offered at the gym. Right now I need someone to tell me what to do while I’m there. I cannot be trusted to workout without instruction yet, I will quit after 10 minutes.
Our plan is to workout seven times a week. Monday and Tuesday mornings at 5:45AM (in the morning). We are going to do a SPIN (Related) class (or Indoor Cycling). I used to be intimidated about going to a Spin class. Now that I am in the WORST SHAPE OF MY LIFE (Related) , I decided to go. There is really nothing to be afraid of. Our class is in the dark so no one is looking at you. Unlike aerobics, if you miss a step you aren’t going to trip up the person next to you. You can just peddle at your own pace. The only problem is the seat. My THUTT (Related) on one of those tiny seats looks a lot like this:
I left the first day with a not-so-good feeling on my tailbone. I have since bought a cushy gel seat cover that helps out with the small (ahem) amount of pain.
On Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, we are going to do YOGA (Related) .
NO, NO, NO, NOT HIM!
THIS:
Well, I’ve actually only been once so I’m not that good yet. Again, this is something I had never tried before and I really enjoyed it too. Perfect for any level of fitness.
Are you reading this Enniferjay? I’m putting this out there for the WHOLE WORLD to see!! That means we have to do it.
So that takes care of 4 workouts with only three more to go. I think I will wait until my next post to discuss the rest of my plan. All this talk about exercise has made me tired. I’ve got to go to bed.
* and I didn’t eat any. I’m so proud of myself.

I was totally interested in this post. You don’t know what to do while in the gym? Hey, if you have any questions feel free to ask.

Your diet coach is mean to bring in KK doughnuts….but you resisted so you’ve passed the first test.
I like that you are stepping outside of the box and trying things that are new to you. I have had people want to be my gym buddy and I’ve only had one person who made the cut. We both had the same snarky attitude about the insane male students who used the weights (by this I mean, guys who were pumping their neck muscles for goodness’ sake).
I hope Enniferjay and you have a fantastic time. I have found the cycling is hard on my butt too (which amused me considering how much padding there is). I’ll have to look into one of those gel things as it seems cycling is the one thing I am allowed to do at this point in time. Have fun! (I’m a little envious but then I’m become envious of anyone, anything with moving knee joints including my cats. Especially my cats now that I think about it.)
